Getting ready to paint a Tee Nee trailer. I assume the pieces were painted prior to assembly which would mean the fasteners aren't painted. My reasoning is that the factory would not know what adjustments would be necessary to fit a boat. Adjustments would expose some unpainted metal areas.

Any opinions?

Thank you,

Randy

I totally agree with your logic. Although some manufacturers have used painted fastener heads in the assembly process.

I would agree with that, but only for items that are adjustable. For instance, I believe the whole axle assembly with springs, etc was assembled before paint so even the rubber bushings were painted. Brackets for rollers or bunks would be painted before assembly. My old '60 Gator still has original paint and that's the way it is.

I have taken a few Tee's apart. I am quite sure the manufacture completely painted the whole trailer befor they assembled it so no matter how you adjusted it there would always be painted under the part you moved.. As to fasteners I paint them then once the trailers is assembled if I buggerd any thing I touch it up with an artist brush.
Not sure what they used for paint but it must have been baked on as it is pretty darn hard and durable.
