Good help is hard to find. If you or anyone you know is interested in a job restoring vintage wood and fiberglass boats, I have an opportunity available. Here is the text of my current Craiglist ad:

"Take a good look at our website: NautilusRestorations.com If you have some experience and the basic skills to do this type of work, we want to hear from you. High school diploma, references and background check required. This is an opportunity to learn a craft that is interesting, challenging and rewarding. Experience with boat engine/outdrive repair or antique auto restoration a plus, as well as woodworking/cabinetmaking or fiberglass fabrication and finishing. We are looking for a conscientious self-starter who is trustworthy, dependable and motivated. Salary dependent upon experience/performance. The more you learn, the more you will earn."

Great work atmosphere and an opportunity to work directly with the 2nd most interesting man in the world. I don't always work on antique boats but when I do, restorations happen!

Send me an application, I fit the requirements to a tee. One condition on acceptance. I have to drink beer on the job.

Yeah I'm with Cal but no alcohol when working with power tools, just one of my matra's. The other two are: never jump out of a perfectly good airplane and don't go in anything designed to sink!

Jan just a bit too far for me otherwise I]d be all over it!

I'm with you. Those guys that sign up for sub duty are nuts: super tight quarters, never see the ocean or breathe fresh air, sinking on purpose, etc. Also, if you can assume that the point of jumping out of a plane is to end up safely on the ground...hell, I'm already there! No risk. I'm a big fan of common sense.

Still trying to fill the job. It's perplexing. I'm offering one of the most interesting jobs there is for a person who is good with their hands, has half a brain and a low tolerance for boredom. So far, only a few applicants with next to zero experience.

I'm thinking I might train a chimp to drive boats, hold the other end of mahogany planks, put bungs in holes, take out the trash, etc: no drama and bananas are cheap.
