TOPIC: Should I get into this 64 Crestliner Del Rio??

Should I get into this 64 Crestliner Del Rio?? 9 years 1 week ago #115643

Morning Folks!

I've been thinking about getting into a Glassic project. A nice old fellow not too far away from me has this one for sale. Says he has all the parts to reassemble. Thought I would post a couple of pictures to the pros (you guys) and maybe tell me what I should be looking for, or concerned with...

Neat looking project. Looks like quite a bit of the grunt work is done. By all the parts does he mean that they just need to be reassembled? I'd buy it if the price was right but that's between you and the seller.

CDCarts,

WELCOME ABOARD. - LOOKS like a NICE project. Given that it's all apart, the price should be REALLY LOW.= Like perhaps whatever the used trailer alone would sell for.
(I know of TWO I/O boat/trailer rigs here right now for 300.oo or less.)

Yeah, says he has all the parts to make it a complete boat.. He's asking 1000 dollars with trailer included.

Seem a little much?

CDCarts,

300.oo would be all that I'd pay for that rig & that assumes that you're SURE that all the parts are present & USABLE.
(IF the seats & interior trim is missing, you're facing at least 1,000.oo to replace the seats/trim.)

Just this last July, I turned down a similar 1969 model (19-foot) STERNCRAFT on a NICE trailer for 500.oo, as I figured out that a restoration would cost at least 5,000.oo & perhaps as much as 7,500.oo.

Keep in mind I'm "overly thrifty", but that is definitely too much IMHO. It's a great project, but not anything particularly "collectible". I'd offer $300 to $500 (if you really like it) and let him call you when he doesn't get any better offers. Just my two cents....... ;)

Really apreciate the insight!!

How common are these old inboard deal rios? I just think they have such an awesome vintage look to them..

I had a '62 Del Rio with outboard, good boats. I'd say your 64 would be kinda rare and really cool.
