TOPIC: Restoring A Razorback

Restoring A Razorback 9 years 1 month ago #114745

Hello,
I have a 1961 Razorback Ski Master 15. It has been sitting in a field for several years uncovered. The colors are pretty faded. I'm concerned that the fiberglass has been compromised. Any opinions or tips would be appreciated. It is still in the field right now but I will post pics as the project moves forward. This is my first try at something like this.

Welcome. All of us had our first, and it is most memorable!
Fortunately, or unfortunately, depending on your view of things, fiberglass is virtually indestructible.

I took on my first fiberglass boat project this spring. You'll find the folks in the forum and the Glassics library to be tremendous resources. Good luck and post pictures as you go.

Thanks y'all. I'm going out to the field today to try to take the wheels off of the trailer so we can get new tires. I'll take some pics while I'm out there.

J welcome aboard, that should be a fun project. you'll have to take a good look at the gelcoat and see if it's ok or starting to crack. IF it's cracking in quite a few places you may have to sand it off and re-gelcoat it. I have not done it myself but there's others on here who have.

OK, we got the wheels off of the Imperial Trailer and are going to replace the tires. Then we can remove the boat from the field and take it to my friends house to start the project proper. I'm trying to post pics but the files are to big. I'm not the smartest with such things so it may take a minute.
