TOPIC: Glassic Bliss

Glassic Bliss 14 years 2 months ago #11328

I just got a little closer to dialing in my Reinell - I tore out all the cable & pully system & installed a Teleflex No Feedback system. I machined up an adapter for the new steering box so it would mate with the original helm, this kept the boat looking original. No new holes added to the boat - I like that. No smurfy plastic steering wheels for me... no way.

I also devised a way to convert the V4 distributor over to a Pertronix solid state ignitor - no more points & condenser to worry about. As with the other stuff, this too keeps the stock look of the engine & can be removed & points reinstalled if desired. I enjoy the challenge of doing mods but keeping the original look -

Boat performs well - holds turns amazingly well and now has zero torque steer. I don't care for the "stiff" feeling of the no feedback helm, but I guess I'll get used to it.

Enjoy the pix.

I am a classic car nut and know how much better the engines run with the points eliminator kits. I installed the pertronix kit on my dads '88 sunrunner with the volvo 350 and it was amazing the difference. How did you make one work on the Evinrude? I have a '63 super seahorse 75hp and would love to get rid of the points but have never found a kit to do so.

Bruce, Very cool......I just have to know more about your boat. I did some searching but can't seem to come up with more info.
