TOPIC: Fleetform boats

Fleetform boats 9 years 2 months ago #112444

My dad designed and built Fleetform boats in the 1950's. I have been thinking about trying to purchase one. What is the best place to begin looking? Thank you!

markrb,

WELCOME ABOARD. - When I'm looking for something that's hard to find, my 1st stop is: www.allofcraigslist.com

You wouldn't believe all the supposedly "hard to find" marine/automotive stuff that I've located there, with just a few "clicks".
(For example: My latest "find" was a complete set of ORIGINAL Mercedes W126 woodwork, in excellent shape, for a friend's car for 75.oo plus S&H, out of VT. - A new/reproduction set of wood is >600.oo, plus tax & S&H from the FRG.)

GOOD HUNTING.

yours, satx

Hello Markrb,
I don't mean to switch tracks on you, but I was wondering ?
I have a what looks like a 1959 Sea Fury Boat. Does your dad know if Sea Fury is a spin-off of the Fleetform?
Or did Fleetform make boats with fins ?
Lastly: where did Fleetform stamp the hull number on the hull ?

Thanks for any info. that you can provide !

Unfortunately my dad is no longer alive. I just read my dad's resume recently where he said that he was the first to manufacture a V-hull. I hope that is helpful. He was pretty innovative so I would think the Sea Fury is a spin-off of the Fleetform. I have never seen a picture of a Fleetform boat with fins. I do not know where the hull number was stamped. Thank you for your question, it motivates me to research the boat. Here is a link, by the way, to an article he wrote for a boating magazine in 1954:

Here is a Fleetform for sale. It's been beside the road in Grantsburg, WI for a few years. Probably cheap but needs a lot of work. Close to you frog. I have the contact information if anyone is interested.

Fleetform or Su-Preme out of Twin Cities? I had a Su-Preme Spitfire that was pretty much identical to this. I was told they copied Fleetform's mold.

That one has been modded so bad that it's got to come completely apart anyway. There are a bunch of boats, and even more motors there. Bought parts from them many times.

Greg, I would take a spin over there. Not that far from you at all. Even just walking through the yard is fun. Last time I was there, they still had a lot of neat stuff (BTW that boat was there then, and that was nearly 10 yrs ago). Much of it wasn't in the greatest of condition, but still fun to look at. And a ton of parts for outboards. It's on the South side of WI 70 between the St. Croix and Grantsburg about 25 miles east of Hinckley.

That's the bigger one. The interior is in it's original configuration, original windshield, and what a neat speedometer. The different back ends are very noticeable. Both are cool boats but if it were me, I'd make the extra drive to Wausau.

Thanks for the heads up, except Wausau is a 6 hr drive one way and with my back it would just about kill me. and the one i'm looking for is the 14 foot with the barrel back, like in the first picture. there was a guy that had one on here and we even came together on a price and then he dropped off the earth. thanks again. frog
