TOPIC: 1957 REDFISH SHARK for sale

1957 REDFISH SHARK for sale 9 years 5 months ago #109589

There is a 1957 REDFISH SHARK on craigslist for $500. I was thinking about it but I think it need more work than I'm ready for. Just wanted some input on it from guys that know more about restoring old boats. Is it worth restoring or is it to far gone. Here is the link with more pics. macon.craigslist.org/boa/5015454693.html

It's worth restoring but you need to decide if it's worth it to you. It's a major undertaking. From a professional standpoint, a complete restoration would be in the $20,000 range for a boat probably worth less than half that at completion. Then again, I'd likely offer him $250 on a "call me you change your mind" basis. Of course, I'm a sucker for hard luck cases and I can do the work "wholesale."

Nautilus,

Inasmuch as that is the exact make/model/color boat that I learned to ski behind in 1960, I'd be "tempted" at 250.oo, if it had a period trailer.

I even have a suitable 1957 Evinrude 35HP OB to power it.

yours, satx

I just want to say thanks for the input. I think I'm going to have to pass as bad as I hate to. I do not have the time for another project and would have to sleep in it if I spent that kind of money on another old boat. I just hope someone will get it and bring it back to life. I hate to see boats like this go to landfill or sit in someone's back yard and rot.

That guy contacted me about the Redfish...stringers and floor shot, no motor and the trailer doesn't go with it. He wanted $250. I passed.
