Started taking my new project apart, and the deck and hull were connected with staples. The staples are pretty well rusted away but now I would need a way to reattach the two halves. Thinking 52oo but it would also need something else to stabilize it.

3/16" rivets cold mix to give you plenty of time to work. pre drill your holes

I agree with Joe about the rivets. I'd apply a fat "nurdle" of 5200 along the lip, lower the top into place, clamp the halves together exactly like you want them and then rivet them together with 1/8" aluminum rivets about every 4" to 6". The 5200 should seal the edges and eliminate any/all squeaks.

I think you would have to put washers on the back of the pop rivets to get the 2 panels sucked tight and not have the rivets pull thru when popping them. just my thoughts

All good ideas, it will be awhile before I get to that part. The 5200 and pops with washers sounds good but they will have to be really short ones. The bump rail is thick and just snaps back over the edge, no screws or rivets :)

if you use pop rivets,,and have an air compressor you may want to invest in an air powered rivet gun.. i love mine.. harbor freight carrys them at a reasonable price..
