TOPIC: New member from oregon need help.

New member from oregon need help. 9 years 6 months ago #107887

Hi everyone just joined the group. I just bought this and have having ALOT of trouble what type and model and year this is... I found her in a field waiting for me to put her in the water where she belongs. Anyone know? I am pretty sure she is a 1958 but need to know if she's a knockoff or a TRUE Glastron. Our Marine board say she's a 1964 Glastron... I am sure this info is WRONG!

It's probably a size issue oneribshy, there is a limit on the file size you're posting. Here's a link to the support section that tells how to reduce the size of your pics, or load them from a pic hosting site;

Welcome aboard, looking forward to seeing your new boat!

oneribshy,

Likely a 1958-59 Glastron or a CLONE thereof.
(Any number of companies made clones of Glastron boats. - Redfish for just one.)

I found this on internet I'm now almost positive she a 58 fireflite mines just missing the finn and side chrome pieces & panel that fits behind second seat.
Where am I going to find these pieces? Never id imagine.

Re:New member from oregon need help. 9 years 6 months ago #108182

oneribshy,

Does your hull have any signs (holes) of ever having had a windshield?

IF it does NOT, it may well be a Glastron UTILITY that was really "plain vanilla" & never had the "fancy" side trim pieces.

Fyi, UTILITY runabouts are quite rare today, as few people bought the "Plain Jane" models.
(I have a 1957 UTILITY "squirreled away" at the family farm. Mine never had a windshield & had plain plywood seats. - I wouldn't be surprised to discover that it's the sole utility hull left by that company, as the company made few "utility runabouts" nearly 6 decades ago.)

Re:New member from oregon need help. 9 years 6 months ago #108207

ya it has holes but as to it was a ad on I don't think so It also had holes plugged in hull where the side chrome work would have been. also has hole plugged in the gunnels where a deck piece would have been between the outboard and rear seat would be. what kind of throws me is the seat configuration and where the finns are as to being overhung over the transom. I will post some pics of these holes and finns tomorrow. I could not find any markings anywhere what so ever.

I would suggest looking for help on the Classic Glastron website. There Someone may have already reproduced parts or have parts to borrow for reproduction castings. There are foundries who can reproduce parts using an example:

www.creativecastingco.com/

KevFin has some Glastron reproduction parts available for the SeaFlite model:
