TOPIC: Heading to Tavares / Lake Dora from the Northeast

Heading to Tavares / Lake Dora from the Northeast 9 years 6 months ago #107178

There is a group of us from the PA & NJ area heading down to the Tavares Show on Lake Dora and can transport parts, motors or possibly a boat down or back if anyone needs transport. We are leaving the Hershey area of PA on Wed. the 26th (heading down 81 - 77 - 95) and be at the show on Thursday mid day. Heading back Sunday the 29th and be in PA on Monday the 30th. We are on a pretty tight schedule due to work obligations so stops along the way will be tough on the schedule. let me know via email if we can get anything for you.

Be careful on the road and have a great trip! Hoping some of you guys can post some pics and let us know what we missed again this year? I'm going to make it down for that show once before it's all over, just isn't going to happen this year.

We've decided to make the trip. I can't stay holed up in South Carolina forever and I figure it's time I met some of the people I've been corresponding with for the last couple years. The 1948 Express isn't ready yet but maybe we'll drag her down next year.

For those of you taking a classic boat for display, KEEP AN EYE on all of your belongings. The last time I displayed our boat there some thief STOLE a bag out of the inside of our G-3 that had some tools, the original OEM center "plug", and some extra spark plugs for the outboard motor! The security personnel/police I reported it to acted like they didn't really care either!

Dave:

From your description, you could be one of 500 guys so I'll just spend the day asking white guys, "Are you Dave the Wave?"

I'll be the old short good-looking guy wearing a navy blue Nautilus Restorations golf shirt, probably escorted by my wife, who tends to wear colorful sundresses and a white hat full of seashells. You'll notice her way before you ever spot me.

We are going down to set up in the vending area right off the food tent, we could use that as a meeting spot if everyone wants to meet. Our company is eastern Vintage and we are setting up in a double space with Mahogany reflections. Our canopy is a 10 x 20 that is black with white checkerboard trim around the bottom. Last year we were right at the end of the center isle and requested that same spot back this year. Set up a time and we can have an informal get together.
