TOPIC: Cutter Jet-DeVille

Cutter Jet-DeVille 14 years 4 months ago #10681

Hi,

I picked up this Jet-DeVille from a trailer park a little while back and want to know what you all think about it.

Should I sand it down over the winter and attempt to bring it back to it's former glory, or just rattle can it and call it what it is????

TIA,

John

Here's a little inspiration, this Cutter Jet Deville was one of JAG's restorations:

You asked, so here's my two cents worth. I think you have a rare 'Glassic there, it deserves the best you can afford to give it time and money wise. Not many of us have the funds, skills, resources, to bring one back to "show-winner" class, but to give it less than your best effort would just not be in the right spirit, IMHO. ;)

Cool,

How big is that motor?

I just picked up a 50hp from my brother in law and would like to use it if I can....

Thanks,

John

Who's motor, mine? It's a '73 115 V4, love it! What year is the 50hp you picked up, got pics?

If you mean the motor on JAG (John Gambil)'s Cutter - it's a 1958 Johnson V4 50 - Very desireable styling on those!
Yours seems to have an Evinrude 35 2 cylinder Lark.

I just traded that engine to my brother-in-law for a 50hp Super SeaHorse V4. It probably needs a new hood but it's good to see one on the little boat. My painter came by today and took a look, he says "no problem"....
