after I retired from the body shop I got a part time job as a janitor at a foundry for a year....we used half and half vinegar and water to mop floors and clean shower stalls...works very well....john

Works on cast iron skillets too. I'm going to set up an E-tank this summer to clean my skillets.

When I worked in the naval shipyard at Bremerton, the sailors on aircraft carriers used to soak their brass firemain valves & parts in "Bug Juice", the various-color non-carbonated drink that was served on the mess decks. Nothing like a citric acid bath to clean up parts!

The Orange-colored bug juice seemed to be the most popular for that use, but I doubt there was much relation to real oranges (except for the citric acid) in that stuff!

The shipyard test division used to conduct citric acid flushes on various shipboard piping, but I don't imagine they used Bug Juice!

Maybe Bug Juice would make a good outboard flush as well; it'd sure taste better than vinegar:

"OK, Doc, what flavor do we want to flush the Tower of Power in today?"

"Make it Grape!!!" Yumm!! :P

I have used vinegar as a cleaner since I was a kid. My mom used it. It is also great for killing mold and mildew. We use it in to clean the head in our RV.
