TOPIC: age of boat from serial # possible?

Hi,
I'm new to this forum.
I LOVE this site!

I recently bought a little Whitehouse runabout and am trying to determine the age of the boat.

I have the original 'tag' with serial number (attaching that image).

Does anybody know if it's possible to determine the boat's age/model from the serial number?

The boat is about 13ft long.

Hi Susie and welcome to Fiberglassics.

Serial numbers of boats were specific to each builder. The modern system of identification (HULL ID) wasn't used on boats until the late 1960s early 1970s. Most of the manufactures of these old boats burned their records at some point, or they have been simply lost over time. Some major brands like ChrisCraft have serial number databases where the record can be looked up. But with most old boats, you have to look for examples of a particular brand and model via old advertisements, or feed back from other collectors. Try looking under the "Glassic Library" menu on the opening page of Fiberglassics. In that section you will see a list of builders in alphabetical order. Hopefully you will see your boat listed.

Here is what I have been doing, if you go to www.google.com/books
then type in your model or "whitehouse boats"
look for boating magazine, they had a boat show issue every year with lots of write ups and images, I did that for my Wacanda, see the picture.

As far as I know, there isn't an extant serial number list for Whitehouse boats.
