TOPIC: Classic Fiberglass race boat with wood deck

Classic Fiberglass race boat with wood deck 9 years 9 months ago #104110

This class is a molded fiberglass hull racing class since the 1960s. Wood hulled versions of this class go back to the 1920s. The roll cage bolts in for today's racing. Remove it for classic Vintage performance runs.

Yes and no. New hulls are being made, but must be true to the original designs. Lapstrake hulls, straight inboard, engines up to 305 ci.

Maybe in case you miss a corner and aren't in the water anymore? Just a thought.

the jersey skiffs can get very wild at speed and the are raced together. I would guess the roll bar is to protect the drivers incase another one would try to go over it in close quarters racing

I thought Vintage does not allow/run a roll cage, but current APBA race boat JS class rules require it.

A boat cam often run in both Vintage and "modern" by adding or removing a cage in Jersey Skiff.

That was the reason for my prior comment.
