TOPIC: new boat purchase what is it?

I was at an auction and purchased a nice all glass boat and evinrude big twin. It says its a cruise about made in ft dodge Iowa anyone have any info?

Not much more but the FG library has this:

Ever get any pics of the Cruise About? Think I may have one--the Capri model approx. 1957

Made by Fort Dodge Boat Company in Fort Dodge, Iowa. Ray Sindlinger and his brother departed Glass Craft, Inc. (makers of Glass-Craft fiberglass boats) and started building their own boats under the brand name "CruiseAbout".

They were a very small operation. They collaborated with another Glass Craft spin-off called Span America Boat Co. to make "Sea King" boats for Montgomery Wards. Apparently one company molded the hulls and the other molded the decks. Not sure which company did the mating of the two and finishing. The two companies were located adjacent to one another.

Fort Dodge Boat Co. was destroyed by a fire. The Sindlinger's did not rebuild and they went into other ventures.

By the looks of the Merc hanging on the back in the brochure it must be from the late '50's.
