If this one turns out half as nice as the last one you did, there will be some jaws dropping around here Bill! (It was absolutely GORGEOUS !) Looking forward to watching it come along.

Nice boat and trailer too. I don't think that Merc 150 would sink your boat but it could be a handful at high speed. I have a Merc 65hp on mine and it could use a little more. I think they were rated for 65 hp maximum when new. I look forward to seeing the fixup work on both yours and Gus's.

I thought I had posted the following blurb a couple days ago but I can't find it. If it's a repeat, forgive me.

Great find! delMars are really great little period cruisers. I just sold mine a couple months ago. It was something I knew I would never have time for. I planned to rebuild the transom and alter it to install a Buick odd-fire V6 engine with an OMC outdrive and turn the boat into a two-passenger coupe with a custom made fiberglass engine cover. Del Mars had a small seat in the rear. If you subtract the weight of two people (300 lbs) sitting in that seat and the weight of a 70 HP outboard hanging over the rear, the weight of the V6 installation would actually be less. Since the round bottom tends to make delMars little "squirrelly," I was considering adding a ski boat fin about midway for stabilization and maybe a couple mahogany chines on the bottom to grip the water in the turns. Anybody want to send me one to have the conversion done? I still have the engine and outdrive...waiting for a good home.
