TOPIC: 1984 Lightning can't find any info

Hello!
As the topic states, I have a 1984 Lightning Bass boat hull, 17', that I recently purchased. I scoured the internet trying to find ANY information I can about it and only found posts about much older boats. I'm just trying to find out basic information...heck, anything would be cool.

There are 16 Lightning 'boats' shown in the USCG list

Maybe you can find some details listed for 1 of those makers that helps figure out which might have built your boat.

Lightning might have been a division of another maker. Like Cadillac and WageMaker in the way back...

It would appear, based on what Jerry Allen's son says, that you have a precursor boat to Excalibur and Wellcraft.

Thank you guys for the replies! Frederic Lynes, I read the information in the links you provided and those did indeed give me some insight. From what I gather, the company changed hands in 1984/85 to Wellcraft. I thank you again for the information. Wishful thinking but I'd still like to know more.
