TOPIC: ms sabre G3 lookalike

ms sabre G3 lookalike 10 years 2 weeks ago #100442

Hi i just a bought a G3 lookalike according to the brochure it was built in Italy and import by Germany. I live in holland.

here pictures of the brochure and boat:

But I do have some questions about the hull, I dont know if it is the same as a glasspar G3 but it's worth trying.

So the inside of the hull is real soft it feels like foam and underneath there is wood. What is this soft stuff? Here a picture:

Also the deck in front is like bend in and looking at the brochure it's flat. Is there a way to get this flat again?

Just a guess, but I'd say the plywood under your floor is rotten and water logged. More than likely, the stringers are too. Maybe some g3 guys will chime in.

That was my guess too Jim.

I was wondering if somebody used some sort of filler or sealer that never hardened? I suspect the guys are right though Mitchell, looking through the crack just behind where you are pointing in the pic. Deconstruction (pulling it all up) is the only way to know for sure, and is the first step in fixing it right IMHO. ;)

Thanks for the answers. I'm gonna pull the floor out and see what it looks like. It's probably rotten. This boat has always been standing on its trailer next to the water so when it came up the edge of the boat was under water, without the drain plug of course

Neat looking g-3 styled boat. Please keep us posted on your progress.

Glasspar did license The G-3 and other models to overseas boat manufacturer's and there were of course copy cat designed on the original. They are all neat to me and worthy of owning.

Congrats on a good purchase.

thanks for the reply. I will keep you posted but that might take some time. the weather is starting to get bad out here with a lot of rain and I don't have a place inside. But that makes some time for the engine which off course needs a lot of work.
