TOPIC: New guy

New guy 10 years 3 weeks ago #100140

Hey everyone. Been here almost a year now and decided to say Hello. Found this sight while looking for info on a boat I bought last October for fishing. After some searching I found out it's a 1966(?) Aristocraft funliner.Theres also a Dorsett Belmont(?)on here somewhere that came out of the same field i pulled mine from. Seeing what they are supposed to look like I decided to just restore it and find something else for fishing. Mine was missing the top and windows but after a 700 mile round trip this spring I now have those pieces. And, as it usually works for me, 1 week later a 1961 funliner shows up on C/L about 80 miles away. The 61 has everything including a camping top and engine cover. After 4 months of offers and counter offers it's mine. So now I have 2 funliner projects and a 1972 Starcraft Jetstream that i'll use for fishing. I will get some pictures posted soon.

Some great boats you have there. The Aristo boats are solid boats. The only trouble structurally could be the wood in the top of the transom, but from what I've seen on here, it's not too bad to fix. Could you post some pics of the front and rear seats in the 66?

Jim L, I will get some pics of the seats for you this weekend. They're just the fiberglass shells though. The transom is shot on the 61. I was glad I took all my straps with me when I went to get it.

NJTriton, sent you a p.m.

Here ya go Jim L. I should also mention that i'm assuming its a 1966 because that's what the motor is.

I think you're right on the year. It would be among the last of the Funliners. I've always wanted to get a close look at the 66 model rear seats.THANK YOU! You don't see but very few of those. You mentioned getting a hardtop to go with it. Is it one of the newer style tops? jim

It's different than the 18 and 19s if that's what you meant. It has cosmetic differences from the other top. I'll take a look tomorrow and maybe post some pics. Are the funliner tops interchangeable?

OBM,the newer tops have more of a bow upward for more headroom and the legs slant back more. Here's a couple pics of the difference. The black one is a 64-66. The other is my 63.
Here's a better pic of the 63 top.

Its the newer style. It does bow upward and the legs slant back more than the other.
