A colleague in our local boat club has a pretty 2 seater 11ft ply runabout with a Canadian built 15hp, ideal for pottering about. The motor is in excellent condition, but a heart condition means he doesn't like / shouldn't be pulling it over manually.

I initially advised him to look for a 60s Fastwin 18hp electric, but they're normally so beaten about over in the UK, that you never know what you're getting and good ones can cost hundreds of dollars.

Does anyone know if it's possible to convert these Gale-based motors to electric start using the Fastwin 18hp and Johnson equivalent starter motor, bracket & flywheel?

I promised him I'd check here as we might be able to source these parts in the US and ship them over for him.
