Well I finally got the Fatty cover done. Yep used the NY Marine paint. It's not perfect or up to John Gibson's capability but it will work for a first time rattle can job. Well first time to seriously paint with a rattle can.

Please excuse all the crap in the background. I'm also in the middle of rearranging the garage so it's more a lie a wood shop again so I can get started on working on the Century.

I'll take more pics of the cover on the Fatty and boat this weekend.

waterwings,

i can only HOPE that the cover on my "new to me" '58 Buccaneer 25hp looks as good, when the college paints it!
(truthfully, i don't think that the factory did as NIFTY of a job as John does, from what i've seen of his work.)

CONGRADS!

yours, satx

That looks GREAT!

I'd never guess is was a repaint. Or a 'rattle can' job for that matter.

Did you like the NY Marine paint? I was going to use it when I repainted the hood for one of my larks, but got cheap and just used rustoleum, even though the color isn't perfect (I know that's not really BLACK), it still looked good, and cost less than the postage alone was on the NY marine paint.

Thanks everyone, that's means a lot to me! It went on fairly well. They recommend 6" to 10" away and thin multiple coats.

Andrew,
Yeah went on well but not a lot in the cans. Yep not real cheap either. I did make sure I painted it on a piece of metal prepped with primer in case I need to do it again, I can try and color match it. Tried at Car Quest and it wasn't right. they said they have a hard time matching when the paint is on Fiberglass but much better when on metal.

Bob,

It looks great from here. That may be the only '59 Fifty lid that I've yet to see spruced up. It's going to get a lot of admiring looks from people, no doubt.
