TOPIC: Can I make a gasket?

Hi All,
Just curious if it is possible to do. Seems to me that if you have heat resistant material it should be a pretty simple process. Am I way off base here? Thanks in advance.

we do it with cars all the time. i don't see why not. get some gasket material appropriate for the application and you should be okay. not a head gasket or anything, but most other stuff should be okay. you'll probably find that buying the proper gaskets ends up being comparable in price but has a nicer end product though.

what's the application are you trying to make a gasket for?

Here they used paper, however you can used most any gasket material that you can buy at most auto parts store

i made most of the gaskets for my old kholer 12 hp lawn mower engine from cheerio boxes it still running and no leaks. that was about 5 years ago. frog
