TOPIC: 30hp evinrude

I am looking at a new project
The outboard is a 30 up evinrude
Model number e30renr
Serial number g 03124400
What year
2 or 4 stroke?
It has hand controls on it , like on a small fishing boat
What will it take to install forward controls on it
Also the boat has a rack steering system
How to connect to motor ?

e = Evinrude
30 = 30 HP
r = Rope Start
e = This is supposed to be shaft length. didn't see a length for "E" there's designations for a blank spot, L, Y, X, and Z
nr = this is supposed to be the year. this model number system was 1980 and up, so NR = 1924 makes no sense.

if instead the model number was e30r_enr, then it would be and evinrude, 30hp rope start with 15" shaft from 1992 with an "R" suffix.

marineengine.com has all the info i've mentioned here. go to look up evinrude outboard parts and over on the right side you'll see a link for look up by model number.

as far as swapping it over to remote contols, it should be straight forward. some pics will help get specific instruction.

A photo would be a big help. Pre 1984 the only 30 hp motors made by OMC with a cowling was 1956.

and I agree with you, I like the old ones as well.
but this is on a little boat I am looking at for my son.
Info on that is on the main forum under the title,, serial number info

If it was me (because I had a system fail offshore) I would mix the oil in the tank at a 50 to 1 and forget the oil injector system

I never have torn a motor apart because it was ran with too much oil

The 30 HP was not a VRO, you need to premix at 50:1
