TOPIC: generator or not

I have a 1958 evinrude starflite 50.
I know the generator mounts under the pull start but is there a tell-tale sign if it has a generator or not? There are no wires that would make me think it has one and the 2 manuals i have aren't the clearest. Should there be wires or something?

If it is a 1958 and you have a generator then you will see it hanging on the side of the motor with a belt coming from under the recoiled system. It is about the size of the old 56 starter

If it looks like it has 2 starters, then it has a generator.

On the 50 Hp it used the same belt as the Mag

We had a Gale 60 hp that had a gen. One weekend the the bearing went out on the gen...the motor would not run for the timing slipped when the belt slipped

Thanks, no generator on my motor. I guess no need to worry about a voltage regulator then. I just didn't want to fry anything.
