TOPIC: 60 slickcraft 58 evinrude wiring

I have a 1960/1961 slickcraft and am trying to figure out the wiring. My motor is a 1958 evinrude 50 starflite. The boat has a 3-pole ignition switch and motor has a magneto.

Do i need a 6-pole switch with the 2 "m" and "choke" terminals? Also, do i need a voltage regulator or can i get by without one? The only thing the battery is going to do is start the motor....no radio, nav, etc.

Please give me any advice or tips!

Where can i get a pinion gear screw shaft and a rubber cushion. Pics below of damaged parts. Or...is there a fix or way to get around it if parts aren't available? The pinion gear comes down and sticks on the screw shaft, so it does not go up to meet flywheel.

here is the wiring for that motor..and the switch. You must have 2 M post. The motor is killed by joining the two mags together...not grounding

Thanks, I did find and use that diagram but i like the colored version better. I'm pretty sure i have the wiring all sorted out. I wired it and didn't have power out to the starter at first. Found bad wires in the harness to the front and wiring was original so i replaced all of it and starter did turn over.

As for the starter bendix... i found a starter and bendix housing locally. I'm waiting to get it and hopefully it will be in good condition.

Is there something that can be used to replace the rubber cushion if needed in the future? It does not seem like they would last forever.
