TOPIC: Help with wiring harness

Help with wiring harness 14 years 7 months ago #6135

When I got my two 1959 Evinrude 35HP Larks only one had the wiring harness that plugs in to the side of the engine and goes to the battery and key. One motor has a generator the other doesnt. Where can I find a harness? And will other omc harnesses work? Thanks for all your help!!!

Put a posting for the harness in the "Wanted" section. Look on eBay, and call some marine shops/salvage places. A good one will show up. Each motor will require a motor harness, realy box, battery cables, the harness to the dashboard, ignition switch and choke button. Only one generator is run on a dual setup. The generator uses a regulater box to limit the voltage going to the battery - preventing overcharging. Using 2 of these on one battery can "confuse" the regulators, so just use one. The regulator is mounted to a deep aluminum cover that attaches to one of the relay boxes.
