I remember our 1974 50 E-rude blew a rod but still ran. I had to get the boat to the ramp on the kicker motor ((DAD's orders... he was not pleased as it blew when he had the boat not me......HA HA)) but the kicker motor was acting up so I ran the boat down to the ramp on 1 cylinder. It was 25 horses then yuk yuk!!

Not huge - bore was only 3.187 inches, about 1/8 larger diameter than the 49-cube 3-holer. It was a stroker, though, as it had the longest stroke of any motor in the line in those days. They were never noted for being smooth idling motors...

I remember on some of the car flat head 6s and stright 8s had long strok and you could lug them up hill and they would just keep going. OK guys thanks for the info.
