Back about 8 or 9 months ago I picked up this FREE '62 Evinrude 40 horse, short shaft, with electric shift. It had been garaged since new and is awesome shape. The guy also had the original controls and wiring box but had to go back to the homeplace to remove them from the boat (still in the garage), so he said it would be a few weeks before I could get them.

Fast forward 8 months... I got an email from him saying he had finally made it back to the old homeplace and had brought the controls back with him. I made the 60 mile drive over to his house today and picked them up. They are in the same amazing shape as the engine, clean as a pin (other than some dust), soft, perfect wiring, and an unmolested selenoid box. Even has a new throttle cable on it that he replaced and never even used. Anyway here are some pics. I think I may have posted the motor pics back when I first got it, but here's the whole kit and kaboodle...

Really nice! That will be a sweet pair. Have you had the opportunity to have it run yet?

Around here in the NW, its rare to find an old motor that nice... we have too much salt water around here. Man, even the skeg has all its paint!

I haven't run it yet. I have too many other projects that need to be finished first before I can start on my own stuff. I've got one boat project belonging to a fellow glasshead, and a '66 Chevy truck project that I have to finish before I can start on mine. Plans are to have them both finished my late spring so maybe I can work over the summer on mine.
