TOPIC: help with my du11

help with my du11 12 years 10 months ago #53897

i have a 1964 omc du11 in a sweet sixteen i just discovered a bad piston in no 3. my question is can i substitute any other v4 block or where could i find a good used block and are oversized pistons available,i checked marine engine with no luck and finally any guesses how much i will spend by he time the paint drys

std piston 379299 supercedes to 379577
std ring 378431 supercedes to 382825
.020 piston 379179
.040 piston 379180
.020 rings 378434 supercedes to 382826
.040 rings 378435 supercedes to 382827

Per Dealerport (BRP dealer web site) parts are available directly from BRP or via dropship. Bottom line is a dealer should be able to order parts.

thanks for the part numbers do you have any idea about the block if i can,t bore the cylender enough ? and do you think the engine would have a probleum if one cylinder is 40 thou over.

It is my understanding that is the same block used in the 100 outbd. However there are modifications such as fuel system & ignition. I would assume the block casting is the same but I am not sure.

I don't see aproblem with one hole OS and the others std.

We bore one cylinder in the V4 blocks all of the time. With standard, 2 or 4 over pistons, there isn't enough difference in compression to matter. Get the piston first and take it in to the shop where they are going to bore the cylinder. It insures a good fit if the machinist can test fit the actual piston to the cylinder.
