Is that the Electic shift model? That may be what the E stands for that you were inquiring about in your other post.If it is the controls will have to be for that model,if not I would think it is the standard two lever model from that era.

I thought so as well. I guess I'll have to back up the street and look at the motor for a starter or maybe the wiring harness plug in - might be hard to get the lid off though as it is lying on it's side on a car bench seat

So the basic two lever controls with the barrel ends on the control calbes?

Was looking for them on e-bay. Not cheap ($100 to $150...) which looks to be driven mostly by the conditon of the control cables.

Which is my next question. The barrel end control cables for Mercs seem to be really hard to find and for the ones I do they want a pile of cash. Same deal for the Evinrud vntage cables?

As I have stated before, finding used parts depends a lot on your locale.
In many places these controls are plentiful and reasonable as far as cost.

I think I have one or 2 around here. I know they don't look new but are still usable. How about $50 plus shiping if you might want one of them. will have to go dig them out and take pic if you want.

PS
The cables you can still get at most boat places. I know west marine has them. Less then $30 apiece.

Thanks all, and thanks Mike on the offer for the control box.
I plan to offer the guy $100 for it and he doesn't take it (or asks me to leave :-) then all the better for me really so that I don't have another vintage beast in the basement. If he bites, you all will of course hear about it (after my wife lets me back in the house)

Gotta ask though - can you REALLY get cables to fit that motor in the stores today? That would be different than for mercs, where you need specific cables that are not available in the stores, and I've not found them on line.

Simply adapt a newer single lever control to it
Red plug identifies these controls.----Not hard to do at all.

Go to the AOMCI Tomahawk meet in Wis. next week. They have everything you would need. B)
