TOPIC: 1967 evinrude 100 hp no spark ..

Frustrated to say the least !! After installing a new pack/ coil from CDI electronics, assembling a new wire harness, the engine ran !! ... for 5 minutes.... then, no spark !! Went back and performed all the tests, they all led back to the same result, I have a bad pack !!! So, I looked to other ignition alternatives, found them here, sort of ?? purchased a pertronix 1545 ignitor, 3 0hm flamethrower epoxy coil, flamethrower 7mm plug wires ... all for about 1/3 of the pack & coil from CDI. Btw, I have tried 3 times to reach the folks at CDI, each time I was put on hold, left messages... Arrrgh !!!!
What information I am looking for is how the distributor shaft is modified to accept the pertronix magnetic ring, how to precisely index it to the rotor timing and what the air gap is between the ring / ignitor. Any help would be appreciated !!

A few years back I did the conversion on the 100hp '67. It's posted here somewhere if you can go back a few years. I did get a lot of help from Bruce and Ed. If I remember right you need to get a distributor to convert to the point/condenser setup. I found one on ebay for cheap. I'll see if I can dig up the old postings. Don't give up.
