I'm working on getting my lark 40 running and have a few questions.
1. I have power coming from both small terminals on solenoid when using ignition switch but nothing out to starter, bad solenoid?
2. I am getting power to the mercury safety switch but wondered if it and the cutout switch could be bypassed. If so, how? If not, why?

I have everything wired exactly like the pic including the junction block. I have no problem doing the wiring more "simple" and any tips or suggestions would be appreciated.

I would say bad solenoid. Try this simple but sparky test. Jump the + side of your battery directly to the + side of the starter. If the motor turns the solenoid is not working. Be prepared for some serious spark so just do a quick touch and make it a good contact. Napa would have those solenoids. They are actually just magnets that you are energizing. When you turn the key the little plunger inside the solenoid raises and makes contact with the starter motor terminal. Make sure the solenoid case is grounded with the motor.
If you see how your choke plunger works it is the same principal only encased.

Bad solenoid. I jumped the starter and had it tested...bad. the solenoid case is grounded with the motor.

Anyone know where I could find starter equivalents (that are made today)? I Googled and did not find any 4102m starters

I've replace them with a typical Ford solenoid. Same principal. Bring the old one to an Auto Zone or someplace.

The experts say the Ford solenoid has different internal wiring that will fry the safety switch:
