I picked up a G3 today and the owner and the NYS reg says its a 1966.
The owner also told me the engine was orig to the hull.
Now I am being told on here that the hull has to be a 60/61 so now I am not sure of anything. I am told it is a 60hp from 1966.
Model # VXL-2R Ser# J2711611. Its a V4 and seems a bit big for 60.
Any help would be good.

OMC made them porky. Are you sure it isn't VX-12R? A VXL would have been a long shaft, originally, and a -12 a '66 60 hp:

Tonight I just picked up a '65 60hp Rude 4 cyl. model 60553c I'm guessing the parts are going to be almost the same.

Checked the #s again and they are VXL. Also fired it up. Cranked over for about 10sec's and fired right up, seems to run very nice but I am thinking the pump impeller is dried up, not much coming out so I didn't run it long.

This engine really was a surprise to me that it fired right up the way it did and ran so well, but as I said it was/is very clean. The glass gas bowl was clear and clean even. seems it was put away correctly. Thats a good thing because the G3 it was on wasn't (to say the least) But now I need to make this engine go away so I am looking for a idea on value. Like I said runs great, shifts has all controls and wiring. Short shaft.
Value?
