Hi, Bob, you can safely run your '64 Big Twin on TCW3 at a ratio of 50:1.

In deference to its age, you might mix it just a wee bit richer; at 40:1 you shouldn't have any fouling issues and the slightly richer (than 50:1) oil mix will promote good ring sealing and give the bearings a bit more lube as well.

If you're troubled by smoke, Amsoil and other major oil mfr's offer a "low-smoke" oil.

ED thanks for the info. the smoking oil don't bother me. I spent my early years running green johnsons. I think that ill try the 40 to 1 . thanks for your help. bob

Mix ration may depend on how you run it.

If you're running it wide open for most of it's usage I'd consider 24/1 or 32/1.

I was reading through a 1993 75hp OMC manual the other day helping a friend get it running and it mention if a lot of wide open usage is expected run 24/1. I found it interesting as 1993 is way after the 50/1 ratios were recommended. His 75hp is on a pontoon and it's super easy to run it wide open and hardly even know it. It's pushing a barge.

It's my understanding that some of the oil injected motors run more oil than 50/1 when under full throttle.

Oil is cheap, motors aren't.

I thought that I read some where that in 64 thay switched to 50 to 1 but had to go back to 24 to 1 because thay had some motors that would not work on 50 to 1 . the one I have gits lots of oil at 50 to 1 and smokes a lot. so I think that iam going to go with 32 to 1. iam shere that will be ok. thanks for the help. bob
