TOPIC: One for the OMC Masters

1980 6 HP E-Rude.
Switchbox was replaced less than (1) year ago.
OHMs tests on all parts good as per CDI/e troubleshoot values.
DVA tests consistent with CDI/e troubleshoot values.
Motor will start & run on either cylinder, BUT,...If started with both spark plugs connected, and top spark plug lead is dis-connected, motor will quit.
If started with both spark plugs connected, and the bottom spark plug lead is dis-connected, motor will continue to run on the top cylinder.
Start the beast with only the top spark plug lead connected, and she starts and runs fine on that cylinder.
Start the beast with only the bottom spark plug lead connected, and she runs just fine on that cylinder.
Swap coil wires and the same result.
Swap orange wires, same result.
Any ideas as to what I can do to make the beast run on both cylinders???

It's about this time where I get my sledgehammer out and threaten the bloody thing with a future as an anchor. LOL. Helpful ?, not really. But YOU will feel better for it ! :)

Only experience with power packs that I have is with mercury. This, sounds like a bad power pack or cdi box to me. Possibly a weak stator or charge coil, only allowing 1 ignition coil to fire.

I do believe the hammer and anchor method was considered but we we realized we already had a few anchors of different models and brands that where larger so we figured why not figure this one out
