TOPIC: Johnson 33 hole drilled

Johnson 33 hole drilled 9 years 1 month ago #114196

Hi,

Just bought a 1960's Johnson 33 hp. It's looking great for its age,
But when I took it out of the car I saw a hole drilled in the leg just under the powerhead. Does anyone have any idea why they would have drilled it there and would it effect the outboard running?

Thanks in advance.

Any picture? Is it just on the lower leg cover? If so no damage done. Could be for something the PO added over the years.

This is the only picture I have right now. I marked the hole so you can see where it is.

Looks like the previous owner just had something connected to it. Maybe a trolling motor or something. There is nothing behind there. I would just plug it up with some sillycone or do some body work on it.
