TOPIC: Parts needed

I need a prop shaft and bearing for a 1965 40hp Johnson. Anybody have one or know of a good source? The motor is at a dealer and they are having problems finding them. Thanks

eBay or one of the good J.E.G.O. folks here. You can do a generic "40hp" search on eBay, or be more specific and search for part numbers.

Todd theres one on ebay right now. its the hole bottomend from a 1967 40hp. manual shifter (its priced right) with any luck it will have a good shaft. Bob

Electric shift or manual shift? For 1965, use the following chart, "Big Twin" for a manual shift motor, "Lark" for an electric shift.


Propeller shaft would be 312867 for a manual shift motor / 378542 for an electric shift.


The Antique Outboard Motor Club has a big list of suppliers. Those parts are common and should be easier than most to find new or used:

E-bay, Marineengine.com, Seaway Marine, Doug Penn, and Ganotech are great resources for parts. Usually you can score NOS parts on E-bay for cheap if you know the part number.
