TOPIC: week fuel pump?

just got done working my 62 super quiet 40hp over. now when I pump it up it leaks around the fuel hose to motor (not to bad just when the system is full) I see that the setiment bowl full and after it runs for 2-3 minutes on idel the bowl is almost empty. I just rebilt the pump last summer. is this normal? Bob

that same leak out will allow air in when it is running. i am guessing that is your problem. can probably be overcome when running full throttle.

So if I put a new end on my fuel line maybe that will fix it. thanks for the help. Bob

Sounds like a bad O ring in the connector, best to just replace the connector. The fuel bowl is only ever full when you pump fuel with the bulb, once the motor starts it will be 1/4 to 1/2 full at the most, perfectly normal.

Thanks Al. ill buy a new fuel conector, this boat will be going to northern Minnesota in the next week or two for the family vacation. if I can git some more bugs out. thanks Bob
