TOPIC: RDS 20 wiring question

RDS 20 wiring question 9 years 9 months ago #107245

The wiring diagram I have shows two mag terminals on the ignition switch. The new switch I have has one ign. terminal. Can I connect both wires to the ign. terminal, or do I need a different switch.

Thanks

Bill

barnickelbill,

Fwiw, you & I are the only two people that I know who actually have a SUPER QUIET that is complete/functional.

IF I remember correctly, you need a different switch.

Yup, you need an ign switch that shorts the mag with the key in the "OFF" position.

Like this one I found on eBay:

That one looks like it's for a dash-mount, others are available with shorter bodies.

Edit: like this one!

Went to install the new switches yesterday, and I still think they're wrong. Has only one mag terminal. Can the other mag wire go to ground, or do I need a switch with two mag terminals?

Thanks

Bill

Is this the same switch you were looking at Ed/Bill?

I need one as well and the ebay listings are gone.

Hi Bill,
Yes, the second magneto wire will go to "ground".

Hi Mark,
I do not think much of the plastic bodied switches, but the brass cased one Bill pictures is nice.

Joe

Thanks Joe, I was hoping that was the case. The only switch I could find with two mag terminals was the plastic one, which I really didn't want to use.
