TOPIC: MY LUCKY DAY. 20JAN15

MY LUCKY DAY. 20JAN15 9 years 8 months ago #104637

Friends,

I "lucked out" today finding (by purest accident) a Johnson RDS-20 in running condition (and pretty fair cosmetic condition, too) with a OMC gas tank, controls & cables. CHEAP TOO.

Presuming that I actually acquire the CORSAIR 15, the RDS-20 will power it.

To ALL,

My buddy John (who wanted to take his "new to him" 1992 Dodge D250 diesel PU out for a road trip.) & I went to Austin today to pick up the "SUPER QUIET" RDS-20 Johnson 35HP OB.
(It looks better in person than the photos did & seems to need little more than "the usual suspects" replaced, a proper paint job & new decals. - Sometimes buying "sight unseen" turns out WELL.)
One thing that I didn't realize was that the RDS-20 came with a bronze prop in nice shape. - It will be polished & "put up" & I'll find a good stock prop to use as a "runner".

Now, if I could find a suitable 1958 TEXAS-BUILT light runabout on a light/period trailer & that is at least complete & restorable!!!
(I've found a restorable 1958 Glastron SKIFLITE on a suitable trailer BUT it is a LONG, LONG drive from SA & is missing the windshield.)
