TOPIC: 1958 Super Seahorse lower unit

I have a question for the JEGO experts out there... I am looking for a replacement gearcase for my 1958 super seahorse.. and in looking I see two 'internal designs' for the casting around the water impeller... my internals look like the white lower unit picture... but I see a lot of the 'yellow' lower unit pictured advertised as for a 1958 super seahorse, but the casting is different, with the 'channel' running around the edge. Will both work? Or should I stick to my guns and look for one that is shaped like the white photo?

The early 25 HP motors did not use a water tube for cooling water.

The water went back in those channels to go up into the motor.----You may find that the bolt pattern is different.

where are you located and how soon are you needing a lower unit.. i have a 58 super seahorse 35hp up in my parents basement that i'll be parting out when i get up to pick it up..motor was rebuilt in 85 and never started.. last time i checked it had locked up from sitting.. so im not messing with it again..

Vintage... I am in central pa. Depending how close you are I might be interested in the whole thing.. or at the least would appreciate a shot at a few specific parts. Not in a big hurry.... I see you are in Jersey? Lets talk.

did Johnson make a 25 in 58??? the white upper looks like a 35 super quiet...have some of those on the shelf would talk if interested john

im just over the Delaware Memorial Bridge... the motor is at up at my parents house and i can pick it up at any time.. so if your interested in the whole thing shoot me an offer..
