TOPIC: All things in moderation

All things in moderation 13 years 5 months ago #37581

Imagine my surprise to lose two Karma points in the brief time we have been moved over to FG maim.

Was it something i said ?
HA!

I am a firm believer, we all earn our reputation in the world.
It would appear, I'm sinking, without having made a firm commitment to the dark side!

Thank God were not talking bilge pumps here or my hull would split in two and what's left of my spirit would be confined to Davy Jone's locker.

peace out

One of my favorite authors as a young man once said 'To enjoy the full flavor of life take big bites. Moderation is for monks.'
Not sure if that applies but you brought it to mind. Do we have monks around the place? ;)

I know, we were warned!
To be honest, I still don't understand the whole "karma" thing.
The odd thing is, with the old forum, you could pretty much tell where you stood.
The page views were a good indicator if anyone thought you had anything worthwhile to say.
I was ok with that.
Now to vote in a negative fashion, that is a different matter.
It is not that I'm thin-skinned.
I've long since gotten over High-School politics.

This post, was just my way of expressing to the old forum members an element of disgust.
Don't get me wrong tho, I do like the extended functionality of being incorporated into the main board.
And perhaps, over time, I'll figure out how to use many of it's features.
Also sure, over time, the karma, will have little to no meaning.

So Props, what are you going to do if we all vote you back into the positive?

Rod
You asked if there are any monks amongst us.
Depends
If taking vows of silence, sabbaticals, abstinence from certain activities in the past apply, well then, I guess, I could be a candidate.
If more currently, one were to compare oneself to that odd anal-retentive TV character "MONK."
That could apply to.
I see myself lately, fixing little things, things I would have overlooked in the past, and ask myself, GAWD, am I becoming that guy? The HORROR!
Could be pre-Alzheimers setting in,
and I will tell ya, that stuff scares the hell out of me.
One day, your in control of your faculties,
the next, your a naked jaybird, sitting your boat,
making odd motor noises with your lips.

Don't ask me why I'm spillin my guts here.
Perhaps, it is because, it is late, I'm bored, and can't see a picture frame to straighten.

Or, to just mess around with the notion,
many of the things us ole roomies once got away with in the past, may be frowned upon by anonymous voters.
It is my sincere hope, the banter we have enjoyed,
that often crossed the line,
on such innocuous topics like, bilge pumps, rub-rail,
the nuances between the lighter and dark side of the farce,
do not become things of the past,
due to,
"all things being moderated."
