Hi there,
Looking for a replacement windshield for my 14ft 1968 Sabercraft. I was told that back then boat builders used auto windshields. Has anyone else heard of this? If so, is there any way to cross reference what vehicle my boats windshield came from? I'm a new boat owner so I don't know a lot around this. Any other ideas on how or where to get a replacement windshield or where to go to get a custom plastic one made? Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks in advance,
Robert

Robert -

i have a windshield off of a 1965 Wacanda that may or may not fit your boat if you're interested. it's tempered glass, so in crystal clear shape and all. if you can give the dimensions you need, i'll check to see if it'll fit. i noticed you're in WA... i am too, so we aught to be close enough to arrange pick up too, so shipping won't be necessary.

Hi Chris,
It's really tough to measure these things. :) Rough measurements are 58 1/2 inches at the bottom by 18 1/2 inches center, top to bottom. Does that make sense?
Bottom frame is still on the boat. The upright and accross frame I had to take off to get the boat home. After a day on the water and sitting at the dock, the windshield just blew out. My guess is it was the rear view mirror that I had recently glued on.

Thanks a lot for looking for me.

The waconda windshield is a single curved piece of tempered glass. At the widest point, at the "tips" that would point aft, mine measures 66 1/2" and is roughly 18" tall in the center. I'm not sure if you measured yours at the tips or not, but it sounds like mine's bigger than the one you're replacing. Depending on the way your deck is shaped, it may still work. I'm not familiar with sabrecraft at all, so I don't know.

Awe shucks... Yeah, I measured at the tips also. Thanks for checking for me. I really don't want to go plexi but boating season is here and I've got an itch! :)

there's no rule saying that you HAVE to have a windshield on your boat... or that not having one should keep you off the water while you try to find a replacement. just keep your mouth shut so you don't get a bug down the 'ole throat and you'll be fine!

by the way, whereabouts in WA are you?

I have a windshield coming off that Fibercraft. It's an old plexiglass one .I can buff a spot to see if i'll clean up. If so yourwelcome to it. I'm in Arlington and can measure it tomorrow, as I will be starting topull all the hardware off that boat this week.
