TOPIC: All fired up- literally

I just couldn't resist this. I can hear the sirens of marine patrol as they pull me over for impersonating an authority. maybe throw a gunny sak over the siren and change the red lenses to clear....?

it was set up as a fire / rescue show boat and never used as such.

as a boat it is clean enough, no damage. as a freak show i think it's even better! i may well keep it with all of the plumbing and rigging for a couple years anyway.

GREAT FIND , CONGRATS. Going forward those service / county boats will be a great value.

I sure would! I think it's cool just the way it is. Course I'd probably have to pull out the fuses for the lights and siren, I wouldn't be able to resist the urge to "play".

VERY cool boat. I had a chance to buy a nice fire boat a while back- It was bigger, though- a 28' steel clipper, with some BIG engines and a cool brass monitor on the fwd deck. I'd have loved to have it, but it just wasn't in the budget at the time!

well, that's the rub jim- it's NOT a piece of service history. the boat is a mock up. although it may have been like what they would have used in the late 50's, it was put together about four years ago by a guy who is in a fire department, and then shown ONLY. just a novelty / ephemera piece.

but with all the stuff, including the stretcher / backboard that i took off to transport it, the scuba tanks, the giant hook-pole, the lights and such, it's a pretty accurate mock up, but just that.

i guess back in the day and pretty much right up til now the fire depts have had to make their own stuff- nobody is making fire boats like they make fire engines and police cars.....

i'll post some more pictures when i get over to that computer later on.
