TOPIC: Paint off hull?

Hi The folks who painted my '72 SmokerCraft (long before I acquired it) never bothered to rough up the aluminum below the waterline, nor did they apply an etching primer. The results (see image)were predictable. I'd like to remove the (remaining) paint below the waterline and go with bare metal. I could use a chemical solvent or I've though about soda blasting it. One question comes to mind: Are the rivets on the hull installed with any kind of sealant and would a solvent compromise that? Any other pros or cons on these two paint removal methods would be apprreciated.

Have you tried to power wash it off yet? Might be surprised how well that works to incorrectly prepped surfaces.

Makes sense- Just running over the water has managed to remove about half of it already! I'll give it a try. Thanks.
