This boat has been going begging for sale for over a year. The owner called to come over and see if one of my outboards would work for him on it. To make a long story short, I traded him 1975 Johnson 9.9 for it and brought it home. Nice trailer with new tires and wheels. I am thinking hard on this one as I am getting tired of trying to repair floors and such on old fiberglass boats. I may just make this mine.

I will have more as I go along. I'm going to turn it over and clean and paint the bottem next month. Through the winter I am going to replace the deck and windshield and dash using new Mahogany.

Nice Clipper, first one I have seen with a wood front deck & windshield. I have a 1958 14' that I have fixed up and we have really enjoyed using. Good luck with the restoration. I look forward to seeing pics. I think I have 2 pics attached of my boat, but this is my first post, so I'll find out soon.

Nice looking Clipper. Good to hear from others with them After researching and comments on my boat, I have determined that my Mfg numbers are under an extra layer of aluminum on my transome. The upper half all the way across is 1/4 " aluminum. I am going to remove that this week to see if the orig numbers are there. This boat was in Lake Tahoe for 30 years, same owner. A fellow in my town bought it and spent three months getting it registered as there was no mfg plate. ( Fish and Game do the boat regs.) They put thier own sticker on it for I D I have not found much info on Orlando Clipper prior to what is in the library here. I have no dobut it is an Orlando Clipper, but year, model etc is..... well when you deal with vintage boats, some things are hazy. I am going to remove the wood and turn the boat next week to clean and paint the hull.

Well I removed the extra aluminum across the upper part of my transom. I had hoped to find the original numbers there. Not there. I have dug around for more info on Clippers and have come to the conlusion that my boat is most likely a 1958 not 48 I can't find much more than is in the libuary and nothing to suggest earlery construction by the firm. If you know different, let me know. In 1958 there were 2 models that measure out like mine with the 20" transom. The Fisherman and the Floridan. The wood deck appears to have been added by a previous owner. I like it. I am going to remove all the wood, transom too, and redue it all. as soon as it is stripped and I replace the transom, I will turn it over, clean, paint it up to the lower spray rails. Do a little refurbishing on the trailer. Then I start buying the wood and move it into the garage. I have 3 months to finish epoxy work before it gets to cold. Fitting and upholstery can be done over the winter.I am determined to have this boat ready for a wet meet next spring in California so Bob Myers and Nor-Cal Chapter, keep me on you list.

Running a little behind but, Finished reviting the new aluminum transome in place today. 223 hand bucked rivets. Not too bad a job. Solved my auxiliary engine problem by extending my '54 lightwin into a long shaft. Next week, bottom paint.

Bottom paint done. I used rustoleum hammer finish. I was going to do the roll on and tip with a brush but this hammered finish comes out great just rolliing on with the small foam roller. I put two coats on Sunday ( 74 degrees ) and put an electric heater under the boat that night. Going to let it sit for 10 days. In the meen time, I am building a cradle on castors so I can keep it in the garage. Not enough room for it on a trailer and 2 cars. All the wood has been stripped out and will start building the wood transom and the gunnels. I will be glad to get that out of the way. The deck, dash and seats will be more injoyable. Will use simple stained wood seats with snap in cushings.

Making progress on the Clipper. A lot of bending and glue work. Dash is framed up, almost ready for the deck frames. Dash will have big glove box on the pasenger side. The center part will be removable for Gagues. I will make two of them. All the wood to aluminum attachements are done. Main part of the Transome is done. Now I have the 55 hp Chrysler longshaft with all the controls I can think ahead as to all the hook ups.

My new years resolution it Work, Work Work.

Thanks Buguy, That is a nice looking original clipper in that photo but a bit pricy yes.

I couldn't believe I found decals and pennant flag for it two day ago, just in time too.

Mines coming together now. Seats, floor boards, paint & finish wood. Seats will be next month but I plan on putting it on the trailer in 2 weeks as I need a place for the 55hp Chrysler I am painting for it.
