This hull was special ordered by an older gentleman quite some time ago from Starcraft. He was a retired career Navy man, who always wanted to build his own boat.

He never started it. He died a few years ago at the age of 92. His son wants to sell it.

I believe it's the hull from a 26' Starcraft Islander. It's never been in water. Never been powered. The possibilities are endless. What you guys think?

Cool! Transom is screaming for some through hull exhaust, and a huge motor.

That's what I personally see.

Neat looking boat, interior is bare I'd imagine?

Phishin,

IF that was mine, I would find a 6-cylinder Mercedes-Benz 3.5 liter diesel and "marinize" it, mount it amidships in a conventional inboard style & then construct a traditional "utility-runabout style" interior.

Then I would take it far out into the Gulf in search of BIG GAMEFISH.

From some research I've done, those Benz 3.5L diesels are the worst engines Mercedes ever made. One huge problem was bent connecting rods.

You got experience with these 3.5's?

Phishin,

M-B resolved the problems with that "rod-bending motor" (Only about 10% ever had ANY problem & M-B fixed those problems at their expense.). - 99% of the ones NOW extant have been fixed & my best buddy has well over 400,000 trouble-free miles on his 350SDL.
(As for me, I wouldn't take love nor money for my 1986 Mercedes 300SDL.= All that's wrong with it at 221,000 is that somebody at the service station worries me to death trying to buy it, every time I go in to buy fuel. IF I was willing to sell mine, I could get 2x what I paid for it, every day.)

Don't believe everything that you hear. - LOTS of people TALK "trash" but FEW actually KNOW anything about the 148HP L6 diesel, except the OWNERS & M-B specialists.
