I am doing some work on a friends non-classic aluminum boat (fixing a couple of holes in a 14 ft boat for the kids to play with in a pond). It doesn't have a drain plug and was wondering if it would be a good oidea to install one. I have a couple of fittings and plugs that came off some small sailboats that would work. Any tricks to installing on aluminum?

Thanks

I'm thinking, if it's for kids boating in a pond, I wouldn't install one. Kids are amazing for curiosity, and pulling the plug when not planed out could lead to a boatful of water. Heck, teach them to drag it up on shore and flip it over to drain it at the end of the voyage. Now there's a challenge for you.

I just bought a live well bulkhead fitting at Bass Pro and drilled a hole and threaded it together sandwiching the transom. Seems to work just fine.
