Hi All, checking out the outstanding FiberGlassics Library, I'm trying to pinpoint my fathers 1956, 14' AlumaCraft model. General description is a 'model F', but has the 'Aqueduct Transom' and is rated for 25hp, not the 20hp as described in the 1958 brochure. I'm inclined to 'assume' that the Aqueduct transom was an option, and upgrdaded the HP capacity to 25hp. It has been in the family since new, and as I recall the ID plate was increasingly more difficult to read. I can't check it out now, because it currently resides in MI with my father. Anyone familiar with this model? Thanks.

The aqueduct transom was a feature that was standard on most AlumaCraft runabouts. A photo would be great, would make it easy to identify.

Thanks for the reply, I haven't found any old pics yet, the basic layout is 14', 3 aluminum flotation bench seats plus a small front seat, and no deck. The closest pic in the '58 brochure is a model 'F', the FD, has a deck and is rated for 35hp. But I don't see the Aqueduct transom in any of the 14' open models.

I think all FD boats had the Aqueduct transom; including the open hulls. I would guess the boat is an FD, but the HP rating makes me a little unsure. The FD is significantly deeper throughout the boat, and drops a lot more from the gunwales down to the transom short shaft transom.

Are you positive of the year and HP rating?

Yes, that much I am sure of. I have an old registration here, 1956, and I do remember that much over the years that is is certified for 25hp...If they made the FD both with and without a deck, it's probably an FD...

Good find, great pics, yes this shows the layout quite well. And I believe my fathers transom is the same style and height. I notice that this FD in CL-St. Cloud appears to have a transom drain plug, my fathers does not. His has the original 'self drain' system, that really doesn't. Has anyone ever added a transom drain to one of these? I've been threatening to for years, but not really sure of the best way to try it...Thanks for the replies!

I just returned from Michigan, and I did remember to check out the Alumacraft...It is an 'FD' model, and is rated for 25hp, the s/n is not visible on the ID plate, but stamped into the center keel-transom support is FD-10xx, this is probably the s/n... Boy those old boats were really heavy duty...
