TOPIC: 1Nonly 47 Feather Craft Vagabond

A few weeks ago a boat came to my attention up in Rochester NY. Had a big old ugly windshield on it and was painted yellow. Everyone was poking fun at it,,,but all of a sudden something about the aspect ratio of this boat struck me. This was not a 60's vagabond, that I knew already. What struck me was the low lines of the boat. I had seen this profile before. It reminded me of Rogers 1949 Feather Craft Vagabond. Called Roger and ask him to take some measurements. He did. Called my best buddy in Roc and ask if he could stop by to look at the boat and check the measurements. He called the next morning. Mark,,,all of the measurements are the same. I was giddy. Was it possible after all these years that we had found a second 49 Vagabond ? George , one more thing. Ask the owner if you can remove the paint from the right side of the transom. Call me back. He did about 15 minutes later. This is what is there. A number ,,,,,are you ready to copy ? Go. After he read the number,,,I said,,George it's not a 49 . You just changed history my friend. You have uncovered maybe the only existing 49 Vagabond in the world. Buy it ! It's home now and I have been working on it for 3 weeks .

year up thru the Mid Atlantic region.. Prior TROY, NY here, & good stuff has come out of that Rochester, Central NY. . Looks like
quick work of that yellow paint.... You would of had good itme with me today. WINGS & WHEELS show at North Chattanooga, TENN, Free
exhibitors, $5 car admission. I took my 54 Vagabond & very few people know the Feather Craft brand.

I can only imagine how many treasures like that are hiding away in barns and garages waiting to be discovered. I've always loved feathercrafts, but REALLY love the old ones like that... Someday I will get lucky, too

And it's done.. The damage to this boat was extensive. The entire process is covered in three YouTube videos. I did it all with help from friends and my son.

WOW! Great find!!! And wonderful job on the resto! I is amazing what we can still find up here in the great white north (C.N.Y.) area's. This is the best time of year with all the leaves down trees bare to peak into back yards and barn yards, I always keep a eye on them when I go anywhere, ya just never know.
Really getting into the Rivited hulls myself, found a odd ball 48 Run About a few weeks ago in the strangest place ever.

WOW, E.K. CONGRATS.. That profile pic belongs on a calendar. To see our early posts four years ago.. I also had a green Johnson PO-15 many years ago at start of my AOMCI collection..Remove that rear square exhaust plate on bowl to get unique cutout sound. I noticed again this week AL stuff is
going crazy.. Have been offered a 57 dual cockpit maybe 16 ft non -F.C. on Gator trl . no motor. Saw this boat 4 years ago. ,..

Did you accept the non-Feather aluminum double cockpit ? What is/was it ?
